Obituary

Berlin, VT "Peggy" Margaret Spaulding Moon, 81, of East Road in Berlin died unexpectedly on April 17th at her home. She was born in Montpelier, VT on November 26, 1936, the daughter of Lewis and Harriet (Reed) Spaulding. She attended Montpelier Public Schools and graduated in 1954. She then attended Vermont College, graduating in 1956. On March 18, 1972, she married David Moon. Mr. Moon predeceased her on March 15, 2017. Peggy worked most of her career as and Administrative Assistant for the Vermont Department of Transportation, beginning in the 1960s and retiring in 1998. She was very proud of being part of the team that built the interstate highway system in Vermont. Peggy was an active member of her community. She held memberships in many organizations, including the Business and Professional Womens Association, the St. Andrews Society, where she served as secretary for many years, and the First Congregational Church of Berlin, Vermont. She and her family enjoyed many winters staying at their second home on Big Pine Key, Florida. She loved skiing in the winter and swimming in the summer. She enjoyed Jazz and dancing. She was very proud to be a Scot, and attended many Scottish events in the course of her lifetime. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed. Survivors include her son, Erik and his partner Emily Nelson and their children, Simon and Adrianna Moon of Montpelier; her brothers, John Spaulding of New Mexico, Lewis Spaulding of Washington State, and Dick and Norman Spaulding, both of Arizona. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 15th at the First Congregational Church in Berlin with a committal at the Berlin Corners Cemetery following.
