Margaret Rose "Peggy" Jay King

Calais, VT

Margaret Rose "Peggy" (LaFountain) Jay King, of Calais, VT, passed away peacefully with her

family by her side at Central Vermont Medical Center on November 20, 2023.

Peggy was born in Winsted, Connecticut on July 2, 1941 to her loving parents, Howard

LaFountain and Margaret (Fisher) LaFountain. Peggy attended school in Barre, VT and

graduated from Spaulding High School in the class of 1959.

Peggy had four loving marriages, Clifford Brown in Barre, VT in 1961, Wayne Flint in

Williamstown, VT in 1973, Darrell Jay in Calais, VT, in 1985, and Clifton "Cliff" King in Berlin,

VT in 2022.

Peggy worked as a laboratory technician at the Barre City Hospital and then as an EKG

technician at Central Vermont Hospital where she retired in 2012. She also drove tractor trailer

truck with her husband, Darrell.

Peggy was a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served

in many callings over the years. She was also a member of the Green Mountain Regiment Fife

and Drum Corp for several years. She enjoyed photography, vacationing in York, ME area, and

other traveling. She especially loved her trip to Morocco in 2022.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Clifton of Barre, VT, three beautiful children Sandy (Brown)

LaForest of Berlin, VT, Kathy Brown of Calais, VT, and Jennifer (Flint) Morehouse of

Summerfield, NC, her sister, Elizabeth "Betty" (John) Bard, brothers Nelson Herbert "Herb"

(Helen) LaFountain, and Steven LaFountain. She is also survived by her step-children, Beverly

(Flint) DeForge, Bonnie (Flint) Magwire, Mark Flint, Mitchell Jay, Michelle (Jay) Fischer, Holly

(Jay) Doll. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and

several nieces and nephews.

Peggy was predeceased by her husbands, Clifford, Wayne, and Darrell, her parents Howard and

Margaret, her brothers Edward, Howard, Terry, and Richard LaFountain, granddaughter

Heather LaForest, and sister-in-law, (Tak) Yong Sun "Suki" LaFountain.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Hersey Road in

Berlin, VT on Saturday December 2, 2023. Viewing hours will be at 9:30-10:45 am, funeral

service at 11:00 am. A light luncheon will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, donations can

be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
