Lucille Barbara Felch, 86, of School Street in Riverton, died on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 with her family by her side.
She was born on February 27, 1933, the daughter of Robert and Ida (Hayford) Colbeth. She attended Montpelier High School.
Lucille worked for several years for Dr. Ernest Tomasi as his nurse. Under his guidance, she was taught the skills needed to care for patients and for people in general, especially her large family. She held several jobs over the years including working in the lunchroom at Berlin Elementary School and as a postal clerk at the Riverton Post Office. Her favorite job was as a day care provider for the many children she cared for. She was fondly referred to as "Gram" by many children not necessarily related to her.
In June of 1952, Lucille married Lester Felch. They later divorced. Together they had nine children. Family was most important to her and her time was best spent while with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Grover Felch and his wife Mary of Callahan, FL; Robert Felch and his wife Denise of Berlin, VT; Richard Felch and his wife Teri of Hilliard, FL; David Felch and his wife Cathy of Northfield, VT; Darlene Callahan and her husband Peter of Berlin, VT; Linda Gilman and her husband Steve of East Montpelier. VT; Lester Felch, Jr., and his wife Lisa of Barre,VT; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Louise Hayford Beaudin of Barre, VT; Glenna LaBounty of Concord, VT; Helen Payette Goodrich of Plainfield, VT; Marshall (Paula) Payette of Alburgh, VT; as well as many nieces and nephews, and cousins. Barb is predeceased by two children, Donna and Billy, and her siblings, Leila Colbeth, Merle Colbeth, Evelyn Colbeth Corsen, Leland Hayford and Lorraine Miller.
Per Barbs request there will be no services. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
