Williamstown, VT
Louise H. (Bean) Bashaw, born June 24, 1918, in Lancaster, N.H. the daughter of the late Herbert and Harriette (Walker) Bean; died suddenly on March 20, 2015.
She spent her youth in Cabot and graduated from Cabot High School in 1936. Mrs. Bashaw was married on May 14, 1943 to Everett Bashaw, by the Reverend E. Leroy Rice in Barre, Vermont. Louise and her husband Everett had 56 wonderful years together. Everett passed away in November, 1999.
While her husband served in the Navy during WWII, she traveled to be with him and saw much of the United States. After his discharge, they made their home in Cabot, Vermont for 25 years, and then moved to Plainfield where they lived for the next 30 years. After her husband's death she continued to live in her home, with the help of her good neighbors, for several years; finally deciding to leave, she moved to "The Gardens" in Williamstown, a retirement living community. There Louise made many friends and enjoyed all the activities the Gardens offered.
She was a member of the Home Dem Group and the St. Andrew's Gore until they were discontinued. She volunteered for the local Hospital's Auxiliary Benefit Shop for several years, was a member of RSVP, as well as a member of the Barre Senior Center. Her hobbies were playing cards with her friends, bird watching, crocheting lap robes for the Veteran's Hospital, hats for the cancer patients and an avid reader. She also enjoyed visits from her family and attending family Holiday Dinners at Edward & Sally Leszko, Jeff and Nancy Potter; and attending the Bean Reunions and learning about her ancestors.
She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Among those in this area include: Roger Walker, Cabot; VT, Roy Potter, East Montpelier; Lester (Eddie) Bean; Barre, VT; Mrs. Edward (Sally) Leszko and her devoted niece Edythe Barbara of Branford, CT, for all her loving care. Her pre-deceased brothers are Ralph Bean of Cabot, VT; Guy Richard Bean, of Hamden, CT; and Carl E. Bean, of Guilford, CT; and sisters include Mrs. Vernon E. (Myrtle Bean) Dow of East Haven, CT; and Mrs. Roy (Marion Bean) Potter, Cabot, VT.
At her request there are no calling hours; a graveside service to take place at Plain-Mont Cemetery, East Montpelier on May 18, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Reverend William Wick of Norwich University will officiate.
