Obituary

The death occurred on February 3, 2011 of Lorna Elizabeth (MacMillan) Williams of Montpelier, Vermont, in her 93rd year. Lorna was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada, the daughter of George and Amy (Stewart) MacMillan. She survived the Spanish Flu during the epidemic early in her life and went on to study Social Work at Boston University in the 1930's. She married an English teacher, Irving S. Williams and together they raised four children in Bedford Hills, NY. Lorna will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her love for Prince Edward Island, her dedication as a lifelong social worker, her love of nature, her keen mind and memory, her warm smile, her African violets, her raspberry jam, and her independent spirit. Lorna will be missed by her family: James I. (Clare Minick) of New Jersey, Ann E. of Maine, David G. of San Francisco, and Benjamin S. (Libby S. Case) of Vermont; her grandchildren: Todd S. Hill, Jessie S. Hill, Eric L. Williams, Amelia S. Williams, and Anna S. Williams; her relatives: the many Massachusetts MacMillans; and two special friends, Helen Goring of Florida and Jean Lodge of Charlottetown. Services were held on February 6 at Montpelier Unitarian Universalist Church. Donations in her memory should be sent to New Dominion United Church, New Dominion, PEI, COA 1HO.
