Lillian Florence Smith peacefully passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 86, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on May 30, 1937, in Marshfield, VT, to her proud parents, Joseph and Ida Benoit, with whom she shared many cherished moments.

Lillian attended school at St Michael's in Montpelier and was an active member of a shooting team winning some awards.

On July 25, 1968, Lillian married the love of her life, Glenn Smith.

Lillian's warmth, kindness, and compassion had a profound impact on all those fortunate enough to have known her. Her unconditional love and strong presence will forever be treasured by her family, friends, and community.

Lillian enjoyed traveling and skiing until her earlier years. She was a passionate musician playing the piano, organ, accordion, saxophone, trumpet, flute, clarinet, and many more.

Lillian's journey in life led her to become a passionate and devoted daycare provider. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of countless children, leaving a lasting impression not only on them but also on their grateful parents. She created a safe and loving environment where little ones could grow, learn, and flourish. She was also active in her husband's collection agency.

She was a lifelong member of St. Augustine's church where she made countless connections with people who will fondly remember her.

Lillian was predeceased by her husband Glenn, her parents, her three brothers Homer, Germain, and Richard Benoit; four sisters Theresa LePine, Madeline Clarke, Marguerite Goodine, and Claire Crossman, and her oldest son Tyrone. Lillian is survived by her son Scott and his wife Julie, their sons Kyle and wife Paulo, and Shane; her daughter Holly Gavin, her son Corey and wife Beth, daughter Karla, and granddaughter Riley; her son Patrick, and his son Nicholas, wife Katelyn and their daughters Mara, Ana, Clara, his daughter Courtney; her youngest son Michael and partner Megan and his 2 daughters Alexandra and Peyton, her God-Daughter Mary Cauchon, and many nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating a funeral mass, which will be held on January 20, 2023, at 11:00 at St. Augustine's Church in Montpelier. She will be interred alongside her husband in the Pinehurst Cemetery in Ryegate, VT. A reception will be held directly following the mass at The Canadian Club, 414 E Montpelier Rd, Barre, VT 05641.

The family is eternally grateful for the providers at Heaton Woods Nursing home and VT Home Health and Hospice. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Heaton Woods, Patient Activities Fund, 10 Heaton Street, Montpelier, VT 05602 or online for Vt Home Health and Hospice.

Lillian may no longer be physically present, but her love, spirit, and memories will forever remain alive. She will be deeply missed by those she touched, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
