Leo Maynard Osborne, 72, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at his home on Crosstown Road, Berlin. Leo was born on August 5, 1937 in Dannemora, NY, the son of the late Leo G. and Eva (Osher) Osborne. He graduated from Lyon Mountain High School and St. Michael's College in Winooski, VT in 1959.
Leo married Kathleen M. Clark on September 2, 1961. Kathleen predeceased him on December 25, 2000.
He is survived by his children, daughter Stephanie Willprecht and her husband Troy of Minneapolis, MN; daughter Melissa Scala and her husband Michael Gaudreau of Contoocook, NH; son Michael Osborne of Worcester, VT., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; siblings Allen Osborne of Clintonville, NY; June Collins of Germantown, MD; Nancy Douglas of Plattsburg, NY; Sylvia Rowe of Anaheim, CA; Janice Rhino of Ausable Forks, NY; many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a special friend and companion, Nancy Brooks.
Leo served in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, as a military policeman with the rank of Private First Class. He spent his entire career in the insurance industry, retiring in 1997 from Vermont Mutual Insurance Company as a senior marketing representative.
Leo was a member of the Montpelier Elks Club. He enjoyed difficult crossword puzzles, cooking, golfing, playing card games, and ice fishing. He had cherished memories of Peaks Island, ME; deer camp, and his children and grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 16 at the Berlin Corners Cemetery.
