Larry William Kennison, Sr., 68, of Route 12 in Middlesex, died on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington.
He was born on December 23, 1945 in Johnson, VT, the son of Vernon M. Kennison, Sr and Etta (Brown) Kennison.
He attended public schools in Johnson, VT and graduated from Johnson High School in 1963.
On June 13, 1964, he married Jeri M. Hayden in Northfield, VT.
He enlisted in the armed services in 1965 and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1967.
Beginning in 1969, he worked as a Teamster truck driver for a number of companies, most recently for the former Consolidated Freight Company in Williston, where he retired in 2000.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #3 and the VFW post # 792. He enjoyed antique collecting as well as auctions and flea markets. His favorite past-time was hunting, fishing, sports, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jeri M. Kennison of Middlesex; daughter, Sheryl Chaffee and her husband Ronald of Barre, VT; sons, Larry W. Kennison, Jr., and his wife Amy of Barre, Thomas A. Kennison and his wife Kimberly of Barre, and Matthew V. Kennison and his wife Dawn of Morrisville; grandchildren, Kristi Kennison, Douglas Burns, Thomas J. Kennison, Joshua Kennison, Paul Kennison, Jayson Chaffee, Cyla Kennison, Daniel Cutting, Faith Kennison, and Haley Kennison; great grandson, Cyrus John Bates; brother, Vernon Kennison, Jr., of Worcester, VT.
He was predeceased by his siblings; Viola Partlow, Polly Lepage, Virginia Blanchard, Morris Kennison, Buddy Kennison, and Earnest Kennison.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on February 8, 2014 at the American Legion, Post # 3 in Montpelier. Immediately following the service, the family will host a pot luck reception.
