Julia H. Flannery, 98, formerly of Kent Street, Montpelier, died on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, VT.
She was born on November 29, 1908 in Swinford, Ireland, the daughter of Martin Henry and Mary (Gavaghan) Henry. She was educated in schools in Ireland and moved to the United States in 1927.
On April 21, 1931, she married Patrick Flannery at St. Augustine's Church in Montpelier by Monsignor William Crosby. Mr. Flannery died on December 26, 1955.
She was a member of St. Augustine's Church, a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and was a member of the Montpelier Senior Citizens.
Survivors include: daughter Patricia Bertrand and husband Dan of New City, NY, daughter Jean Ormsbee of East Montpelier, VT, son John Flannery and wife Sandy of East Montpelier, VT; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by two sisters, Mary Cuff and Margaret Conway; two brothers, John Henry and Martin Henry, son-in-law Richard Ormsbee and grandson Richard Patrick Ormsbee.
Calling hours will be held at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier, VT on Friday, September 21, 2007 from 7-9 PM. A funeral mass will be offered at St. Augustine's Church on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Montpelier, VT.
