Judith V. Cookson, 83, of Chestnut Place in Berlin, formerly of East Montpelier passed away with her loving family by her side.

She was born on January 7, 1941, the daughter of Roy and Marion (Martin) Lilley. Judith graduated High School from Lyndon Institute in 1959.

On June 20, 1959, she married Chester Cookson in East Calais, VT. Together they made their home in Plainfield.

Judy worked primarily as an Administrative Assistant for several employers including, Hersey Fuels, Central Vermont Medical Center, and Woodridge Nursing Home. Judy had enjoyed retirement since 2000.

Judy was a past member of the Eastern Star and Canadian Club. She worked side by side assisting her husband with every aspect of his business. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, sewing and refinishing furniture. She also enjoyed yard sales, having them or stopping at them. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life, she very seldom missed a play, concert or sporting event.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Chester Cookson of Berlin; her daughter, Tina Walker and husband Charles of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Gary Cookson and wife Dawn of Plainfield, VT; grandchildren, Connor Walker of Seattle Wa, Taylor Kenly and husband Mike of Bethlehem NH, and Shannon Cookson of Florence Vt and brother, Douglas Lilley of Calais, VT.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Marilla Thomas, Marsha St. Cyr, and Roderick Lilley.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Plainmont Cemetery in Plainfield.
