Obituary

Barre, VT Josephine L. Harris, 90, passed away November 4th, at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin. She was born in New York City. She attended the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, Connecticut and Bennett Junior College in Millbrook New York. Josephine moved to Waitsfield, Vermont in 1958 and worked at Mad River Glen Ski Area as a Secretary, where she met her husband the late Robert Harris. She later worked as a bookkeeper for his construction business. Most recently, Josephine worked at Vermont Right to Life for 9 years until her retirement. Josephine had a great love for travel and history which she inspired in her children and grandchildren. She and her children spent several summers in Europe which produced wonderful memories. Josphine also had a great passion and talent for cooking. She never went anywhere without a book, did the New York Times crossword puzzle every Sunday, loved jigsaw puzzles,card, and board games. Josephine is survived by her daughter, Kate Harris Ryan, son Robert Harris Jr; daughter-in-law, Rosa; grandchildren Cory Ryan, Justin Ryan, Melanie Ryan and Giselle Harris; step-grandsons Ivan and Sergio Hernandez and great-grandson Xander Ryan. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustines in Montpelier, Friday at 11AM. In lieu of flowers gifts in her memory may be given to VT Right to Life, Vermont Special Olympics or one of the local catholic parishes. A special thanks to everyone at Woodridge Nursing Home for their wonderful care and support.
