Joseph Frederick "Joe" Pacini, 71 of Hampshire Hill Road, Worcester, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Jct. Joe was born in Montpelier on December 30, 1940 the son of Giacomo & Florence (Abbiati) Pacini. He attended St. Michael's Grade School and St. Michael's High School. Following his education, Joe entered the military and served in the US Army 101 1st Airborne, 2nd Airborne Battle Group, 187th Infantry, Third US Army and was discharged on October 11, 1963 to the National Guard. He continued to serve until 1965. Joe worked for many years as a granite carver with Montpelier Granite Works and several sheds in the Barre area including Anderson Granite Company. After his retirement, he owned and operated Pacini Custom Finishing & Carving from his home in Worcester. He enjoyed shooting pool, 4-wheeling, his life's work- granite carving, spending time with his good friends, and he was also an avid hunter, fisherman and trap shooter. Joe is survived by two step-sons, Shawn McManis of Worcester, VT; Eric McManis of Farmington, NH; grandchildren, Joseph McManis, Shelby McManis, Amber Ellis, Richie Ellis, Brianna Perreault, and Zack Keaton; three sisters, Emilie Lanier of Mass; Iola Berno of Montpelier, and Teresa Frasconia of Wellington, FL and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two best friends, Paul Belisle and Ernie Colby. Joe is predeceased by his parents, his horse and best friend, Red Girl, and his brother, Gus, three sisters, Alibis Taylor, Mary Reno, and Josephine Howe. A service of remembrance with military honors will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22nd at 1:00 pm at Joe's home on Hampshire Hill Road, Worcester.
