John James Hassard, 60, of Mechanic Street, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Central Vermont Medical Center. John was born December 27, 1952, in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Howard William and Mary (Cunningham) Hassard. After attending college, and while living in New Jersey, he was a wholesale seafood broker. John is survived by two daughters: Sara Hassard of Montpelier, VT and Emily Hassard of Stowe, VT., sisters Mary Jane Nolan of New York City, NY., and Nancy Hassard Burke of Dallas, PA., an aunt, Kathleen McDermott of Wilkes Barre, PA., several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 21st, at 10:00 a.m. from St. Augustine Church, 16 Barre Street, Montpelier. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wilkes Barre, Pa at a later date.
