Montpelier, VT Johanna Luise Citrini, 84, of 180 Main Street, Montpelier died October 2, 2008 at her home. She was born on August 19, 1924 in Heidelberg, Germany, the daughter of Karl and Anna (Astor) Stelz. Hanna was married to Oliver Guido Citrini. They met while Oliver was serving as a U.S. Army Sargent in Germany and were wed on August 24, 1946 in Germany. She received her formal education in Germany in nursing, teaching, and interior design. She continued her careers upon their return to the United States on August 8, 1951. Hanna became a United States Citizen on May 16, 1955. Hanna was a longtime interior designer in the Central Vermont area working for herself and being contracted by furniture and fabric stores. She also taught German and interior design at the adult education level. Hanna is survived by her daughters, Renate Gagne and her husband, Dennis of Antelope CA; Louise Relation and her husband, Stephen of Essex Jct., VT; and Heidi Setien and her husband, Steven of Barre, VT; grandchildren, Emily Duggins, Eleanor Surryhne, Sabrina Relation, Nicholas Relation; great grandchildren, Olivia Del Agostino, Morellia Del Agostino, Chloe Surryhne, Wyatt Surryhne, Alex Duggins and Amber Duggins. Also surviving are two sisters in Germany, Hedwig Schussler and Renate Dammer; many nieces and nephews in Germany and Australia. Hanna was predeceased by her husband on January 3, 1982, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 6-9 pm at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier. A Memorial service is planned for Tuesday at 1 pm at Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place at Green Mount Cemetery.
