Joan B.K.
Pinchbeck
January 1, 2024 – January 9, 2025
Berlin, VT
Joan B.K. Pinchbeck, age 92, died January 9, 2025 at her home at Chestnut Place in Berlin, Vermont.
Joan was a native of Guilford, Connecticut. Although currently residing in Vermont, she maintained a summer residence at Mulberry Point in Guilford.
Joan was the daughter of Angelo John Bonzi, Jr., and Rosalinda Tassis Bonzi. She was pre-deceased by her parents and sister Beverly Pond Maldonado; and in 1993 by Howard M. Kilton, her husband of forty-one years.
Joan was a graduate of Guilford High School and continued her studies at Stone Academy, UConn Law School, and Community College of Vermont. She was also awarded an honorary degree from Woodbury College in recognition of outstanding contributions to the paralegal program.
Prior to moving to Vermont, Joan was a legal assistant for the Hon. Frank J. Marlowe and was later appointed as Probate Court Clerk for the District of Guilford, Connecticut under the Hon. Lucy S. Baxter. After moving to Vermont, Joan was employed by the State of Vermont as the Paralegal Supervisor for the Vermont Department of Social Welfare's Child Support Division where she was recognized for meritorious service. After retirement, Joan worked part-time for the Montpelier Town Clerk's office.
While in Connecticut, Joan was active in her church teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and serving as an Altar Guild Member. She served on the vestry as well. Joan also volunteered as an Assistant Girl Scout Leader. After moving to Vermont, Joan was elected to the Twinfield School Board. She volunteered at the Central Vermont Medical Center, the Good Samaritan Haven, and served on the Washington County Diversion Board.
Joan was an avid reader who supported her favorite libraries: Kilton Free Library in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, the Guilford Free Library in Guilford, Connecticut; and the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier. Those who knew Joan admired the hundreds of handknit socks she made using yarn she acquired from her world-wide travels. She enjoyed swimming, concerts, the theatre, museums, and spending time with family and friends.
On September 29, 2001, Joan and William W. Pinchbeck were married. Together they have a blended family of six children. Joan is survived by William, Deborah Kilton, Jay Kilton, Michael Kilton, Barrie Rosalinda, Dr. David Pinchbeck (Margaret) and Thomas Pinchbeck (Bonnie). She is survived by twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, her sister Toni Gonzales, and her sister Angie Fiengo (Richard).
