IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeannette B.
Quinn
May 4, 1938 – January 20, 2026
Jeannette B. Quinn, age 87, of Montpelier, Vermont passed away on January 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a prolonged illness with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. She was born at Heaton Hospital, in Montpelier on May 4, 1938, to Ernest and Simonne (Pinard) Bisson and grew up on the family farm in Cutler Corners, Orange as one of seven children. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Newport, Vermont, and college at Mary Hitchcock School of Medical Technology. She was employed as a nurse technician at local hospitals and in the Montpelier school system.
On October 28th, 1961, she married Robert "Bob" James Quinn in Barre, Vermont. Together they had four children, Steve, Kathy Ann (pre-deceased), Susan, and James, who they raised in Montpelier, Vermont. Bob and Jeannette enjoyed 39 years of marriage until Bob passed at the early age of 66 on August 17, 2000.
In their early years Bob and Jeannette made wonderful memories at Thunder Road with Bob as the flagger and Jeannette selling tickets as part of the exciting racing community. A faithful member of Saint Augustine's Parish, Jeannette spent years working in the religious education program for young students. In the 1990's Bob and Jeannette served on the Commissioning Committee for the USS Montpelier Submarine. This led to many new friendships, including with veterans who served on the US Navy Cruiser USS Montpelier CL-57 in World War II. Over the years, they attended the commissioning of new submarines and created the USS Montpelier Museum in the Montpelier City Hall. Most importantly, they loved hosting sailors and serving them much-appreciated home cooked meals in their backyard and at the local VFW. Their commitment to this community is a large part of Montpelier's continued tradition of hosting sailors each year. Jeannette also had a special enthusiasm for attending local theater productions, especially at Lost Nation Theater, where she delighted in sharing the experience of live performance with others.
After Bob retired, they enjoyed several winters in Florida, which Jeannette continued for over 20 years. Over those years Jeannette was blessed to make lifelong friends who became her extended Florida family. She was always happy to escape the Vermont cold and cherished her time spent in Florida.
Survivors include Jeannette's children, Steve Quinn, Susan (Tim) Murray, James (Shelley) Quinn. She was a proud grandmother to Katie (Zachary) Duskin, Matthew Murray, Colleen Quinn, Sean Quinn, Aidan Quinn, Natalie Quinn, and was thrilled to become a great grandmother to William Duskin in 2024.
Jeannette is survived by her sister Lucy (Greg) Utton, brothers Bob (Nancy) Bisson, and John (Diane) Bisson, and Sisters-in Laws, Lorraine Bisson, Rita Bisson and Pam Bisson as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Simonne Bisson, her brothers, Roger Bisson, Gerard Bisson and Maurice Bisson and her daughter, Kathy Ann.
Jeannette's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, doctors and caring staff at Central Vermont Medical Center who provided her with such compassionate care.
