Jean H. Carpenter, 94, passed away March 10, 2015, at her home on Chapman Road in Montpelier.
She was born on April 6, 1920, in Orange, VA to Leroy and Virginia (Coleman) Harman. She was educated, including business school, in Richmond ,VA. She then worked for General Electric.
Jean married Silas Carpenter in Richmond, VA on May 27, 1952. They moved to Montpelier and raised two daughters. She was actively involved in her daughters' activities including Brownies and Girl Scouts. Jean was also an active member of Christ Episcopal Church. She worked in the Vermont Republican State Committee office for many years.
Jean enjoyed reading, doing cross word puzzles and spending time with her grandson.
Jean is survived by her daughter Virginia, (Ginny), Himmelsbach, and grandson, Kyle Himmelsbach, both of Montpelier. She also leaves a special cousin from CT, and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Silas in 1978, and her daughter, Mary (Dee) Carpenter in 2013. Her beloved cat, Shade, also predeceased her.
A private service will be at the convenience of her family.
