Obituary

Janet W. Burrus, 67, of Horn of the Moon Road, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Central Vermont Hospital. She was born in Exeter, NH on September 18, 1947 the daughter of James J. McGoff and Madeline (McKinnon) McGoff. Janet graduated from Sharon (MA) High School and later attended Westbrook Jr. College and received a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Johnson State College. On June 8, 1968, Janet married the love of her life, David Burrus in Ridgeville, Ohio. They lived on Gallison Hill Road and later moved to Horn of the Moon Road. Janet enjoyed being a lumber Jackie in the woods, gardening, cycling, traveling, and summer vacations in Ocean Park, Maine, sugaring, recycling and spending time with her family. Janet worked for several years for the State of Vermont in various departments including Health Department, Child Support Unit, Economic Services, AOT, Personnel Department and the Labor Relations Board. Janet retired in 2005. She was also a substitute teacher in local schools in the 1990's. Janet is survived by her loving husband, David of East Montpelier; daughter, Heather Belanger and her husband, Scott of Geneva, IL; son, Rob Burrus and his wife, Stacy of Hampton, NH; and 4 grandchildren. She is also survived by five sisters, Ann Wall of Concord, NH; Alison McGoff of Iowa City, IA; Rosemary Johnson of Bozeman, MT; Meredith Spyker of Glenwood Springs, CO; and Elizabeth McGoff of Bozeman, MT; and several nieces & nephews. There will be a celebration of Janet's life on Saturday, June 13th.
