Jamie J. Jenkins, 79, of Scott Hill Road, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Woodridge Nursing Home after a brief stay.
He was born on June 21, 1939 in Graniteville, VT, one of six boys, to Fred and Hester (Whipple) Jenkins. He attended schools in Williamstown.
In 1957, Jamie enlisted into the United State Air Force, where he served in many capacities including, Weather Observer, Nuclear Weapons Specialist, and Explosive Ordinance Disposal. He was honorably discharged in 1977 after serving for over 20 years of military service. Jamie later worked for Union 32 High School as a maintenance worker and retired from there in 2010.
In 1975, He married Lorraine Wagner in Anchorage, AK.
Jamie was a member of the Montpelier Elks Club, the American Legion Post 3, and the VFW post 792.
He was an expert card player. He especially enjoyed playing with and beating his family members at cards (Cribbage, Pitch and Get Rid of the Garbage). He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Lorraine Jenkins of Berlin; his children, Patricia Ladd and her husband Randy of Berlin, Michael Gilman and his wife Mari of Williamstown, Brian Jenkins and his wife Marlowe of Jericho, Scott Jenkins of Plattsburgh, NY, Melissa Jenkins of Sugar Hill, NH and Jennifer Miles and her husband Jim of Georgia, VT,; brothers, Harold Jenkins and his partner Leslie of Bristol VT and Dennis Jenkins and his wife Betty of Orange, VT; and many very special grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Alfred Jenkins, Ronny Jenkins, and Bobby Jenkins.
There will be no calling hours and serves will be held at the convenience of the family.
