James Henry King Sr., 74 of Plainfield, VT passed away on January 10, 2019. Born on 02 January, 1945 in Barre, VT he was the 8th child of 13 born to James C. King and Leona R. King (Warren). He was married on June 26, 1965 to the love of his life, Alice Lucy King (Picard) for 53+ amazing years.
He had a number of occupations over the years to include but not limited to farming, textile machinery mechanic (Malden Mills), head cook (Camp Meade Restaurant) taxi driver, auto mechanic and long haul truck driver. Of these, what he enjoyed most and often spoke about was the years he spent either working others farms or raising his own farm animals. Later in life, whenever he was asked "what was your occupation" he would quickly respond with "farmer".
He was predeceased by his mother and father, 4 brothers: Raymond King; Warren (Sam) King; Gerald (Jerry) King; Merlin (Mike) King and his wife Julie; and 1 brother-in-law; David (Dave) Flood.
He is survived by his wife Alice and their 5 sons: James H. King Jr. and his partner Kristy Engelhard of Middlesex, VT; John A. King and his wife Tanya of Middlesex, VT; Joseph A. King and his wife Debbie of Williamstown, VT; Adrian L. King Sr. of Plainfield, VT; Adam L. King and his wife Elizabeth of Plainfield, VT; 8 grandchildren: Meagan King; Adrian (A.J.) King Jr and his wife Ella; Michael King; Branden King; Natasha King; Collin King; Carson King; Ayden King; 4 step grandchildren: Anthony Engelhard; Cassandra Engelhard; Jordon West; Lucas West and his wife Meagan West; and 3 great grandchildren: Jesse McAllister; Shopia King and Savannah West.
He is also survived by 4 sisters and 4 brothers: Alida Cane and her husband Timothy Cane of Worchester, VT; Virginia (Ginny) Flood of Barre, VT; Linda Avery and her husband William (Bill) Avery of De Leon Springs, FL; Alton King and his wife Cindy of Woodbury, VT; Clifton King and his wife Shirley of East Montpelier, VT; Lynn King and his wife June of Cookville, VT and Robert (Bob) King and his wife Janet of Chelsea, VT; Marvine Lasell of Williamstown, VT; 1 sister-in-law: Marilyn King and many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family.
Husband (Dear), Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle Jay and more, he was referred to by many names but truly loved and respected by all of us. We are saddened of your passing but ever so thankful for the time we had with you.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held beginning at 1:00 PM on Sunday January 20th 2019, at the VFW, Pioneer Street, Montpelier, VT.
