East Montpelier, VT James Peter Eniti, 59, of Old Farm Road, died in the early hours of Friday, November 7, 2014 at his home. In the wake of his passing, James' dear friend Sam Prather said: "He loved the night, and always paused to look at the moon if she could be seen. James passed on the night of the full moon." He was born in Burlington, VT on December 28, 1954, the son of Ernest and Barbara (Bump) Eniti. He graduated from Union 32 High School in 1973 and later attended Vermont Technical College. James earned a bachelor's degree from the University of New York while serving in the Navy. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974 and served until his honorable discharge in 1981. James worked for the Hewlett Packard Company as a repair technician. He later moved to the research and development department and finally retired as a software engineer after 24 years with the company in 2005. He was an engineer's engineer. He intuitively understood machines, and loved them. James was an avid gaming enthusiast, actively involved in online role-playing communities where he cultivated intimate and lifelong friendships. He was passionate about green energy and proudly served on the Energy Committee in East Montpelier. He employed renewable energy technologies to power his home and enjoyed driving his all-electric sun-charged E-Box around town. James is survived by his mother, Barbara Eniti of East Montpelier; sister, Sari Wolf of East Montpelier; nephews, Casey Wolf and his partner, Elizabeth Brood of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Indigo Wolf of Montpelier. He was predeceased by his brother, William Eniti and an Aunt, Harriet Bump. There will be no calling hours. Friends wishing to celebrate his life may do so by enjoying a rootbeer float or "dessert before dinner" in his honor. A memorial will be held in James's honor at his home of 160 Old Farm Road, East Montpelier on Friday, November 28 at 2:00 pm. Those wishing to say their goodbyes are encouraged to attend. A potluck reception will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kellogg Hubbard Library or the Vermont Symphony Orchestra.
