Jackalyn West (House) Secore, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 18, 2013.
She was born on April 8, 1934, in Littleton, NH, the daughter of Helen (Richey) and David House. She graduated from Littleton High School. In 1952 she married Robert West of Waterbury, VT and they had two daughters. She enrolled in Adult Education Programs and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Goddard College in Plainfield, VT and worked at the Community College of Vermont, Goddard College, and Vermont Technical College. She had a strong commitment to education and enjoyed her work in postsecondary education. In 1983 she married Walter Secore who died in 1987. Following her retirement in 1997, she pursued her special interests in rug braiding and rug hooking. She had a special fondness for all of the friends she made while working at the law firm.
She is survived by her two daughters, Vicki (West) Hill and her husband Aaron of Williston, Vermont and Kelly (West) Fay and her husband Gerry of Waterbury; a special relative, Judith Pease of LaJolla, CA; brothers Robert Desrochers of Candia, NH and Jay Desrochers of Whitefield, NH; five nephews; nine grandchildren, Bethany Cliche, Heather Touchette, Lucas Dolloff, Ashley Fay, Brett Hill, Allison Young, Chad Fay, Nicole Walker, and Dan Fay; 14 great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Rachel, Riley, Ethan, Noah, Jack, Olivia, Anna, Max, Cole, Grace, Alivia, Keira and Rylee. She was predeceased by her sister, Janice Mercer. She also leaves behind her faithful and loving companion, her dog Murray.
Those close to her will always remember her fondly as Jackie, Mom, Nan, Nannie, Nina, and best friend.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23rd, 2013 at St. Augustine's Church in Montpelier. Immediately following, family and friends are invited to gather at the Montpelier Senior Citizens Center. A private burial for family will occur at a later date.
