Henry M. Gillett, 90, of Forest Drive, Montpelier died Tuesday, January 5, 2009 at Rowan Court Nursing Home in Barre.
He was born in Montpelier, VT on May 1, 1919 the son of Joseph & Louie (Monk) Gillett. He received his education in Montpelier Public Schools and graduated from Montpelier Seminary in 1937.
Henry served in the Army Air Force during World War 2 from 1943 to his discharge in 1946.
Following his military service he worked for a period of time for New England Telephone Company. In 1949, he became employed as a rural mail carrier for the towns of Montpelier & East Montpelier Post Offices. He served over 30 years and retired in 1980.
He married Esther B. Pedrozo in Montpelier on June 3, 1950.
Henry enjoyed summer vacations at their home on Lake Elmore (VT) and also on Cape Cod, MA.
Survivors include his wife, Esther, of Montpelier and a sister, Joyce Kaltsas of Seekonk, MA.
Calling hours will be held at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, Friday, January 8, 2010 from 1-3 pm. A Funeral Service will be at 3:00 pm, Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Rebecca Clark, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial with Military honors will be held at Green Mount Cemetery at a later date.
