East Montpelier, VT Gretchen Patricia Hudson, 79, of East Montpelier Village, died peacefully with her family around on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at her home. She was born on February 29, 1936, the daughter of Roland and Margaret Roberts. She attended West High School in Manchester, NH and graduated in the class of 1954. On May 25, 1957, she married James Hudson. He predeceased her on June 3, 2012. She was a home maker and she loved her children and taking care of her husband. She also enjoyed camping and snowmobiling with family and friends. She knitted and crocheted many afghans and blankets for her family which will last forever. She is finally at peace with her dear husband, Jim. She was a bingo player and would play at many of the local clubs but especially enjoyed Thursday night bingo at the Canadian Club. Survivors include her daughters; Patti Spry and husband Tom of Haverlock, NC, Judi Hudson and Thom Ford of Graniteville, VT, Cathy Hudson of East Montpelier, VT, and Barbara Dustin and husband Rob of Layton, UT; sons, Mike Hudson and Mari Cato of Middlesex, VT and Matt Hudson and wife Lori of Marshfield, VT; grandchildren, Jeremy Spry of New York, Kassie Spry of North Carolina, Ashley Johnson of Utah, and Shelby Hudson of East Montpelier; great grandchildren Mason Spry of NY and Ellie Johnson of UT; brothers, Raymond Roberts of New Hampshire and Richard Roberts of Florida and many nieces and nephews from all over the country. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim Hudson; sister, Mary Roberts; and brother, Rollie Roberts. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, VT.
