Georgianne Sylvester Abbiati, known affectionately as Georgie, passed away on October 24, 2024, in Burlington, Vermont. Born on March 1, 1936, Georgie lived a vibrant life marked by her entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to family, keen sense of humor, her dedication to her community, and her unwavering care for others.

Georgie attended Yokohama High School in Yokohama, Japan, and graduated from Holton-Arms School in Washington, DC. She was a pioneering businesswoman, having been the original owner of the Langdon Bridge Craft Shop and Abbie's Place craft and gift shop in Montpelier, Vermont. Both establishments became beloved staples in the community, reflecting her passion for crafts and her knack for business.

Beyond her career, Georgie was deeply involved in her community and her churches. She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Montpelier and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradenton, Florida. Her commitment to community service was evident in her establishment and management of the St. Joseph Church gift shop, and her enthusiastic participation in organizing church events. Georgie also had a keen interest in real estate, investing in properties and flipping them, which she approached with the same zeal and meticulousness as her other ventures. Her ability to organize and manage was unparalleled, extending even to social events which she loved to host, ensuring everyone felt welcomed and cherished.

She leaves behind a loving family: son Rick Abbiati and Dolly of Nashua, NH; daughter Mary Katherine Sklon and her husband Jerry of Montpelier; and her daughter-in-law Gloria Abbiati (late husband Tom) of Plainfield. Georgie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stuart (Stu) Abbiati, and son, Tom Abbiati.

A service to honor Georgie's life will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Berlin Corner Cemetery in Berlin, Vermont. She will be remembered for her vibrant sense of humor, her generous spirit, and her enduring care for those around her. Her legacy of kindness and dedication to her community will be remembered by all who knew her.
