Georgianne L. Guare, 91, of South Portland, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2015 at The Cedars Assisted Living Center, Portland. Born in St. Leonard, New Brunswick on January 12, 1924 to the late Alfred and Marie (Morneau) Lebel. As a young woman, Georgianne moved to Maine to make her way in the world. She worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Harold Pachios. A devout Catholic, Georgie met Thomas Emmons Guare at Sacred Heart Church in Portland. He had noticed her, and gained her attention by pretending he was unable to open the church door. She had noticed him too and quickly stepped up to help. They fell in love, and were happily married for 49 years until Tom's death in 2002. During her lifetime, Georgie raised 3 children and worked in several positions, including a secretary for the City of Portland. She loved listening to music and spending time with her many friends. Georgianne was also an avid reader and gardener. A devoted mother and grandmother, Georgie was loved and will be missed by all. In addition to her parents and husband, Georgianne was predeceased by her siblings, Louis, Sylvio, Paul, Cecile, Gerard and Ann Marie. She is survived by her children, Michael Guare and wife Susan of Bangor, Connie Guare of Hallowell and Richard Guare of FL. Also survived by brothers, George and Leonard Lebel; 7 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 6-8PM in the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at the Funeral Home on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 10:15AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Rd., South Portland.
