Montpelier, VT March 2, 1953 – November 14, 2011 Garth G Genge, age 58 lead by example; he loved passionately; he motivated others to be engaged and confident in themselves; was curious and interested in countless topics and loved to have jazz, blues and rock music playing most times of the day. He loved his work with housing and community development in Montpelier and central Vermont, and before that Brooklyn. He was a fifth degree black belt in Tai kwon do; held a masters degree in photo journalism from Boston University, and was a talented and meticulous carpenter. Garth held self esteem and harmony within himself. His most precious and fulfilling roles were of husband and father. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son Alec, daughter Arielle, sister Pamela, sister Andrea Blythe and brother in law Dr. Jack Mancus, seven nephews, one niece, several intimate and cherished friends, dogs Otis and Lacy, and countless others who looked to him as a father figure, brother, teacher and friend. In lieu of flowers, Garth would appreciate donations to the Central Vermont Community Land Trust, 107 North Main Street Barre, VT. There will be no calling hours.
