Obituary

Montpelier, VT G. David Eaton, 67, of Hebert Road, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at his home. He was born on August 24, 1942 in Montpelier, the son of Lester Walker and Helen (Petrie) Eaton. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1961. He later attended Vermont Technical College and majored in highway engineering. He was a self taught computer programmer and worked in this field for the Vermont Department of Transportation until his retirement in the fall of 2004. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1963 and served until October 1969. His true passion was skiing and trials motorcycling. He was a member of the Mt. Mansfield Ski Club where he taught skiing full time and part time from 1978-2004. He had the designation of Certified Professional Ski Instructor of America and was a member of the Masters Program at Mt. Mansfield Ski and Snowboard Club. He was also a member of the Green Mountain Plonkers Trials Motorcycle Club. He was first married to Muriel Jordan Goldberg. After the marriage ended, he met and fell in love with Patricia Isabelle Davison. They were married on June 6, 1987. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Trish Eaton; his children; Leslie Eaton Baker and her husband Timothy of Waterbury Ctr, VT Christopher Eaton and his wife Sabine Guentner Eaton of Duxbury, Monica Rice Manning and her husband Wade of Randolph; grandchildren, Alexander David Eaton of Mashpee, MA, Shayla Baker of Columbia, SC, and Katelyn Manning of Randolph. Sister in law, Jean Krieg of Norwich, VT Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 6-8:00 pm at the Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 am at Guare & Sons Funeral Home with a committal service following at the Berlin Corners Cemetery.
