Frederick William Johnson, 59, of Barre Street, and formerly of Barre City for many years, died unexpectedly in Moretown, VT.
Fred was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 16, 1951 the son of U. Cone Johnson and June (Trebbe) Johnson.
For a period of time, he was married to Kippy Boyle of Newburgh, NY.
He attended several different high schools and later attended the University of the New World in Switzerland.
He was an avid skier, photographer, and enjoyed taking long walks at night in the city. He suffered from severe depression for many years, but always had an indomitable spirit and a drive to find meaning in life.
Survivors include his sister, Trebbe Johnson and her husband, Andrew Gardner of Thompson, PA and many friends in the Barre-Montpelier Area and including friends from the AA meetings he attended for many years.
A celebration of Fred's life and a final good-bye will be held at Currier Park in downtown Barre City at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 5th.
