Francis Joseph (Bud) Mullins, 80, of Moretown, died at his home surrounded by his family on August 11, 2009. He was born on June 6, 1929, in Camden NJ, to Frank and Edith (Wimette) Mullins. He moved with his parents to Middlebury, VT, where he spent his early years. His family later moved to Burlington, where he graduated from Burlington High School and attended Burlington Business College (Champlain College).
As a young man he went to Washington D.C. and worked for the State Department. He joined the Foreign Service as a Diplomatic Courier, traveling throughout the Middle East and Africa.
On July 19, 1958, he married Teresa Geary McCuen of Burlington. They lived in Panama and Cyprus before moving to Washington D.C., where he worked for the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency. In 1968, he moved his family back to Vermont, where he was employed by the Agency of Transportation for 27 years before retiring in 1996.
He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Teresa; three children - Francis Joseph Mullins III, and Jeri, of East Montpelier; Patricia Anne Melvin of Barre Town; and Timothy William Mullins, and Daya, of San Francisco, CA.; six granddaughters – Kendal Ashley Melvin, Brittany Nicole Melvin, Caitlin Cole Milazzo, Hannah Elizabeth Mullins, Marisa Jean Mullins, and Maya Victoria Mullins, expected in September 2009; and one grandson Marcus William Mullins.
