Flora M. Kidder, 85, of Bennett Mill Road, Orange, VT and formerly of Montpelier died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Rowan Court Nursing Home.
She was born in Montpelier on June 24, 1926 the daughter of Albert Earl & Helen (Ellis) Gabaree. Flora received her education in Middlesex Grade Schools and graduated from Montpelier High School.
Flora worked for many years at Harry's Department Store on the Barre-Montpelier Road. After the closing of the store she worked as a bartender at the American Legion Post # 3 where she was a life member of the Ladies Aux. and served as President. She was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Aux. # 792.
She was married to Gordon Wesley Kidder. They owned and operated a night club in Council Bluff, Iowa.
Mrs. Kidder is survived by two sons, Gordon Wesley Kidder, Jr. of Orange, VT; Kenneth E. Kidder of VT; a daughter, Marilyn Kidder of Florida; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by 5 brothers, Frank Gabaree, Park Gabaree, Luis Gabarre, Daniel Gabaree and Vincent Gabaree and 1 sister, Beverly Coleman.
Flora was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, three sons, David Kidder; Everett Kidder; Stephen Kidder; daughter, Yvonne E. Batson; brothers, Albert E. Gabarre, Jr., Clifton Gabaree, John Gabaree and Leo Gabaree.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Plain Mont Cemetery, Route 2, East Montpelier.
