Faye S. Sweet, 78, of US Route 2 in Middlesex, died on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Central Vermont Medical Center.
She was born on June 1, 1940 in Burlington, VT, the daughter of Fay Coffin and Shirley Fisher. She attended grade school in Middlesex and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1957.
She married Howard Sweet and together they had five children. Mr. Sweet predeceased her on October 19, 1973.
Faye worked for a number of local restaurants in her younger years. She primarily worked as a tax examiner for the Vermont Tax Department for 30 years before retiring in 1995. After retiring Faye worked at Vermont Transit in the office and as a Bus Tour Guide,
Faye always had a welcoming smile. Having raised five children alone, the holidays and being with family were a very special time for her. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed some of her favorite dishes which include her Corned Beef and Cabbage, her Baked Ham Dinners and her famous Peanut Butter Fudge. Faye was a caregiver to so many, this was more than just family members, she cared for several friends in so many ways, whether visiting on a daily basis making sure all had what they needed, or moving several right in her home and caring for them until she was no longer able to give them the help that was needed. When the time came when Faye needed to be cared for, her son Howard made sure she had everything she needed and was able to keep her home in her house so she did not have to go into a Nursing Home.
Survivors include her children; Howard Sweet of Middlesex, VT; BJ Sweet and his wife Tracy of Washington, VT and their children, David, Kelly and Anthony; Steven Sweet and his wife Tina of Craftsbury, VT and their children, Jennifer and Noah; Wanda Terp and her husband Douglas of Winslow, ME and their son C.J.; and Melody Richardson and her husband Joe of Middlesex, VT and their children, Alisha and Derek; Nephews, Gregg Coffin and wife Sandy, Michael Coffin, and Nieces Bobbijo Coffin and SueAnn Coffin, as well as, many other nieces and nephews.
