Evelyn M. Goodell, 92, a longtime resident of Barre Street died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Central Vermont Medical Center.
She was born on December 1, 1915 in Moretown, the daughter of Osman and Stella (Macy) Smith. She attended Middlesex Grade Schools and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1934.
In 1941, Evelyn married Earl S. Goodell in Montpelier. Mr. Goodell predeceased her on June 20, 1993.
She worked for a number of local businesses including Hills Studio, the Imperial Restaurant, and Redding Plastic Company. She worked for many years as a dispatcher for the Montpelier Police Department, retiring from there in 1973.
Her interests and hobbies include, baking, gardening and flowers as well as animals especially cats.
Survivors include her daughter, with whom she shared her home with, Sandra J. Field of Montpelier; a sister, Florence Farnham of Berlin; granddaughter, Heather Michaud and her husband Cris and their daughter, Jordyn of Montpelier; granddaughter, Heidi MacAskill and her husband Chris of Barre Town; grandson, Todd M. Field and his companion Suzanne Sleeper of East Montpelier, VT; grandson, Dan D. Field of Montpelier; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Calling Hours will be held 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A prayer service will begin immediately following the calling hours at 4:00 pm. A grave side service will be held in the spring at Middlesex Center Cemetery.
