Eunice Williams Brooks
December 5, 1935 – July 16, 2026
Eunice Williams Brooks, 90, passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Eunice was born on December 5, 1935, in Alexandria, Virginia, to George R. Williams Sr. and Eunice Hawkins Williams. The fifth of nine children, she spent her early years in the Washington, D.C. area, attending Parker-Gray High School and working locally.
In August 1967, she married the love of her life, Francis, at his father’s church in Rockville, Maryland. Following their marriage, the couple settled in Montpelier, Vermont, where they became long-time residents and deeply rooted members of the community.
Eunice dedicated many years to local children, working as an instructional and playground aide for the local schools. Her faith and her family were the cornerstones of her life. For many years, she was actively involved with her beloved family at the First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and shared her beautiful lyric soprano voice as a soloist for numerous services. Music was incredibly important to Eunice; she filled her home with it, sharing her gift with her family and always encouraging her children to pursue and enjoy music in their own lives.
In her later years, Eunice cherished her newfound church family at Trinity Methodist Church—the very same church where her children had attended preschool decades earlier. She found immense joy in gathering with old and new friends for weekly services, sharing in both scripture and song.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Gloria and Audrey; and her brother, Marvin.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Francis; her son, Eric of Waterbury, VT; her daughter, Maria of Roslindale, MA; her sisters, Morraine Winfree, Marquette Scales, Lorelei Ransome, and Rev. Tijuanna Williams; her brother, George R. Williams Jr.; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very dearly.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, as well as Cornerstone Caregiving, for their gentle, loving care of Eunice as she ascended home.
