Enes Pellegrini Mattson, 92, passed away on December 27th at Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, Vermont. She was born on March 6, 1921 in Montpelier, Vermont to John and Louisa (Adami) Pellegrini.
Enes grew up in Montpelier, attended schools there, and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1939. In the late 1940s she worked for the American Fidelity Insurance Co, Montpelier, where she met and then married Carl Mattson on May 27, 1950. Enes and Carl resided in Barre, VT their entire married lives, where they raised their two children. After Carl's passing in 2000, she returned to live in Montpelier at the Westview Meadows Retirement Community, and then for the past several years at The Gardens in Williamstown.
Enes was a great mother and wonderful friend to many. She had a feisty spirit and a good sense of humor. She loved music and had a lovely singing voice. She enjoyed being a part of the Westview Meadows Chorus. She was an excellent cook, loved good food, reading, and doing various types of needlework.
She is survived by her daughter Janis Mattson and her longtime partner Douglas Aja of East Montpelier, her brother Dino Pellegrini of Berlin, nieces, nephews, close cousins, friends she considered her extended family, and her cat Cleo.
She was predeceased by her husband Carl and son Jeffrey.
Per Enes' wishes there will be no funeral services or calling hours. Burial and a remembrance gathering will be held at the family's discretion when the weather warms and things are in bloom again.
