Elaine (Taylor) LaRosa, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Central Vermont Hospital after a short stay. Elaine was born in Montpelier on December 7, 1933, the daughter of Frank and Cora (Stearns) Taylor. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1951. On February 19, 1955, she was married to Reginald A. LaRosa (Tex), and they lived in Montpelier for most of their married life. Elaine participated as a past president of the Montpelier Mothers Club, on the Board of Directors of Vermont Green Up, Inc., the Board of Directors of the Montpelier Historical Society, the Advisory Board of the Montpelier Senior Activity Center, the Board of Directors of the Green Mountain Quilters Guild, was a member and past president of Calico Country Quilters, a member of several national quilters organizations and a member of the Montpelier Theatre Guild. In 1971, Elaine and Tex purchased their camp on Lake Groton where many family gatherings were held. There were a great number of books read, thousands of Yahtzee games tossed, and card games galore. Precious memories have been, and will continue to be made, at the camp where Elaine and Tex loved. Most recently, a gathering was held on the 4th of July, where Elaine was surrounded by all of her family. Elaines last several years were spent at Westview Meadows with Tex and their cat, Rudy, whom they loved greatly. The family will always hold the professionals who became like family very dear to their hearts. Elaine loved to sing, dance and entertain. When she was performing, she lit up the stage with her passion. Elaine also created a legacy in the many creative pieces that she made and gave away to family, friends and even as donations. She was a master quilter, knitter and sewer. Her beautiful pieces will be cherished. Elaine (Nana) is survived by her husband, Tex, of Montpelier, their three children and spouses, Elizabeth and Peter Nicholson of Farmington, Connecticut and Lake Groton, Vermont, their daughter Heather Nicholson Flynn and her husband, John and their children John Peter and Cora; John and Joyce LaRosa, also of Lake Groton, and their three boys, Anthony LaRosa and his family Cassie Abreau and their children, Camryn, Kaiulani and Giovanni, Joshua LaRosa and Luke LaRosa and his wife Lynne, and Steven and Barbara LaRosa of Montpelier, and their son, Nathan LaRosa; also her brothers, John Taylor of Goffstown, NH, James Taylor of Gun Barrel City, Texas, and a sister, Susan Jewett, of Newport, VT.
