EAST MONTPELIER: Edward G. Lane Sr., 89, of County Road in East Montpelier, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at his home. He was born in Montpelier on January 14, 1921 to Theo and Eva (Willette) Lane. He graduated from Montpelier High School and served in the US Navy during WWII from 1942 to 1945. Ed married Eudora E. Lumber in Montpelier on January 20, 1946. He was employed by New England Tel and Tel for forty years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Vermont Bird Fanciers Club and the Brown-Johnson Post 792 VFW. Ed is survived by sons Edward G. Lane Jr. and his wife, Carol, of White River Junction, Allan C. Lane and his wife Linda, of Plainfield; daughters Linda L. Lane of East Montpelier, Vickie A. Adams and her husband Rob of Middlesex; grandchildren Bethany (Lane) Sprague and her husband Chris of West Rutland, Jennifer (Lane) Balzanelli and her husband Joseph of Chandler, AZ, Justin Lane and his wife Ann, of Barre Town, Eric Adams of Montpelier; great-grandchildren Grace, Samuel, Elaine and Olivia Balzanelli of Chandler, AZ, Brett Lane of Barre Town; brother Kenneth Lane and his wife, Rose, of Shelburne; sisters Barbara Hull of Middlesex and Phyllis Weston of Ogdensburg, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Theo and Eva Lane; his wife, Eudora Lane; grandsons Shawn M. Lane, the son of Allan and Linda Lane, Bryon E. Lane, the son of Edward and Carol Lane; brothers Howard Lane and Robert Lane; sisters Marjorie Lamell and Bernice Lawless. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Barber & Lanier Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Montpelier.
