Edna Abacherli Zorn, age 92, died peacefully in the home of her son Arthur, in Montpelier. Edna was born on March 26, 1917 in Giswil, Switzerland. Her father was Leonhard Abacherli, her mother was Hermina Kiser Abacherli. Both of her parents were from Sarnes, Switzerland. Edna overcame adverse and unpredictable changes that happened early in her life. When she was 7 years old she left Switzerland to live on a farm in California with her parents and younger sister Leona. She met her husband, Bruno A. Zorn, while working for the bridge engineer, Othmar Ammann, in New Jersey. Married July 26th 1947, they had three sons; Walter, Robert and Arthur. An accomplished artist, Edna didn't have the opportunity to fully work with her talent. While she enjoyed her painting, she devoted her life to raising her family and helping her husband run their delicatessen business in the Bronx, N.Y. In 1969 they sold their delicatessen in the Bronx, and moved to Wells, Vermont, where they owned and ran a successful general store. Edna and Bruno retired to Middletown Springs, Vt. where she lived until September 2009, when health issues caused her to relocate to her son's home in Montpelier, Vt. She was pre-deceased by her husband Bruno in 1981 and her sister Leona in 2009. Edna is survived by her three sons; Walter in Jericho, Arthur in Montpelier and Robert in Middletown Springs, two daughters-in-law, Karin Zorn and Nancy Zorn and her grandson Zachary.
