Calais, VT
Edith A. Baldwin, 101, formerly of County Road in Calais and most recently Woodridge Nursing Home, died on Monday, January 13, 2020.
She was born on October 25, 1918, the daughter of Edwin and Eva (Farnsworth) Johnson. Edith lived and attended school in Worcester.
She, alongside her husband Nelson, spent many years running various dairy farms in Central Vermont. She was very "hands-on" on the farm, often assisting local veterinarians with the delivery of cows and other livestock. All the while, Edith was also maintaining the home and raising her family.
Edith loved growing plants, particularly flowers, nurturing them year after year. She especially enjoyed sharing her love for nature with her great-grandchildren, teaching them about birds and how to make a toad fall asleep.
Survivors include her granddaughter, whom she lived with, Kimberly Baldwin of Calais, VT, her grandsons, Ralph Baldwin and Nelson Baldwin; her great grandchildren, Rebecca, Erin, Wade, TJ, Jessie, Seth, Mark, Kristie, and Joshua.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nelson Baldwin; her son, Richard Baldwin, Sr.; her grandsons, Richard Baldwin, Jr, and Dennis Baldwin.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Robinson Cemetery in Calais, VT.
