Earlene (Dailey) Forbes, 86, of Worcester, VT, passed away September 9, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Earlene was born in Worcester, VT, in 1939 to Earl and Beryl Dailey. She graduated from Montpelier High School and attended the University of Vermont.

After moving to Massachusetts, she met and married Duncan F. Forbes in 1961. Returning to Vermont, she worked for Vermont Mutual Insurance Company for 27 years, retiring in 2002.

Earlene enjoyed gardening, sewing, and making her delicious jams and jellies. She also enjoyed serving her community.

Earlene was predeceased by husband, Duncan Forbes; son, Duncan Forbes, Jr.; parents, Earl and Beryl Dailey; and sister, Dolena 'Dolly' Richardson.

Earlene is survived by her sons, Michael Forbes and wife Lisa (Pierce) of Worcester, VT and Steven Forbes and wife Michelle (Companion) of Waterbury, VT; her grandchildren, Cote Forbes and wife Kelly (Szczepanek) and their sons Oliver, 8 and Owen, 5 of Georgia, VT; Trevor Forbes and wife Aoife (Hewson) and their daughter Alice, 3 of Ireland; Taylor Forbes and wife Lauren (Howard) and their son Graham, 2 of Westborough, MA; and Jennifer (Forbes) and Matt Aiello of Jericho, VT.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff of Chestnut Place for the care of Earlene.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 18th, from 5-7 p.m. at Guare & Sons Funeral Home in Montpelier, VT. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
