Duward Leonard, 83, a resident of Pioneer Apartments, Montpelier died Sunday, Sept. 12th at Berlin Health & ReHab Center after a brief illness.
He was born in Rutland , VT on March 1, 1927 the son of William & Lillian Leonard and attended schools in the Rutland area.
Duward worked for the State of Vermont with the Buildings Division as a custodian for the State Library. He retired after 19 years of service in 1989.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Many would remember Duward and his best friend, Bobby, visiting with friends and businesses of downtown Montpelier. Together they would often sit on city benches and watch the downtown scenery.
He is survived by a longtime friend, Bobby Turner of Pioneer Apartments, his favorite cat, Scooter; sister, Rhu Nicholas of Tampa , Florida and a brother, Rupert Leonard of Woodstock , VT ; and nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 15th at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street , Montpelier . At Duward's request there will be no calling hours.
Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at East Clarenden (VT) Cemetery.
