Worcester, VT Duncan Francis Forbes, 80, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at his home following a brief illness. Duncan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Earlene (Dailey) Forbes; his two sons, Michael, married to Lisa Marie (Pierce) Forbes and Steven, married to Michelle (Companion) Forbes and four grandchildren, Cote, Trevor, Taylor and Jennifer Forbes. Duncan was born in 1935, the son of William and Francis (Toner) Forbes and raised in Dorchester, MA. He was preceded in death by his only sibling, David. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and served until his honorable discharge in 1958. Duncan later attended Boston University, graduating in 1960. Duncan and Earlene married in 1961 in Wolliston, MA. Duncan worked for General Dynamics at Quincy Shipyard until moving to Vermont in 1970. While in Vermont, he worked for Vermont College which became Norwich University where he became Chief of Security. He developed many lifelong friendships while at Norwich. Duncan enjoyed sailing, golfing and watching the Boston Bruins and Red Sox play. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, 30 School Street, Montpelier from 2 to 4 pm. Military Honors will be offered at 4 pm at the funeral home.
