Douglas B. Jones, 92, of Montpelier, VT, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his son Greg.
Douglas was born on November 5, 1933, in Montpelier, VT, to Burnham Jones and Helen (Barclay) Jones.
Douglas attended schools in Montpelier and graduated from Montpelier High School in the early 50’s. He was a dedicated engineer for the State of Vermont until his retirement.
Douglas was drafted into the United States Army, where he served his country for approximately two years.
Douglas married Virginia (Kane) Jones in 1958; they made their home in Montpelier and had a loving son, Greg.
Douglas had many interests and talents, including the art of taxidermy as well as other art forms (painting and drawing). Douglas was the first inductee into the Vermont Trappers Hall of Fame. He was the cofounder of the Central Vermont Runners Club, and he was an Assistant Scout Leader. Douglas was a volunteer trapping instructor for Vermont Conservation Camps.
Douglas is survived by his son, Gregory Jones of Richmond, VT, and his grandchildren, Walker R. Jones and Tatum M. Jones.
Douglas was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Jones; his parents, Burnham and Helen; and his siblings, Janice, Thomas, Carlton, and Stanley.
Arrangements are in the care of Guare and Sons Funeral Home of Montpelier, VT.
