Dorothy Stevens Funk, 89, died on February 1, 2013, in Lakewood Ranch, FL following a short illness. Dorothy was born in Guildhall, VT on July 12, 1923 the daughter of Earl E. and Glenn (Whyte) Stevens. Dorothy was a graduate of Groveton High School in Groveton, NH and the University of Vermont. She was a devoted mother and grandmother of her seven children, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Robert J. Funk, Sr. who passed away in 2002. Mrs. Funk is survived by her children, Ann Funk Carr of Montpelier; Jean Funk Phillips of Silver Springs, MD; Robert J. Funk, Jr. of Applegate, CA; Joan L. Funk of Denver, CO; Stevens J. Funk and his wife Carla of Muskego, WI; Mary Jane Tappen of Tallahassee, FL; and Charles E. Funk and his wife Suanne of Parrish, FL. Mrs. Funk's grandchildren are A. Robert Carr and his wife Debi of Northfield; Jay Carr of Barre; Sara Phillips of Carrollton, GA; Daniel Tappen Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; Jennifer Tappen Smith and her husband Allen of Tallahassee, FL; Kaila Funk of Muskego, WI; Glenn Funk and Laney Funk of Parrish, FL. Mrs. Funk is also survived by her great grandchildren, Samantha Bubar of South Barre; Lydia Carr of Barre; Daniel Hurley, and Connor Smith of Tallahassee, FL. Services for Dorothy Funk are scheduled to occur during Mother's Day Weekend. There will be a Memorial Mass 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 10th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield, VT. There will also be a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11th 2013 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Montpelier and burial at Green Mount Cemetery. Experiences of her late husband and of friends prompted Dorothy to develop a strong interest in advances in treatment and developing a possible cure for Parkinson's Disease.
