Dorothy "Dot" Dennis 78, died surrounded by her family on Tuesday January 5, 2010 at her home in Middlesex after an extended illness. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland she relocated to central Vermont in 1973. She worked for the state of Vermont and retired in 1996 after 22 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years David Dennis and her 3 children: Ralph Cortese of Middletown, Connecticut, Ken Cortese and his wife Stephanie of Atascadero, California, and Bernadette Hartman of Jacksonville, Florida, and her 5 grandchildren Katrina Hartman-Lawson, Amanda, Angela, Brendon, and Marissa Cortese and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Edwin "Sonny" Bustard, Jr. She was pre-deceased by her first husband Ralph Cortese, her parents: Edwin and Mary Bustard, her sister Eileen Long who recently passed on December 14th. Visiting hours will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8th at Guare & Sons Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church at noon on Saturday January 9th. The burial will be held in the spring time at North Branch Cemetery.
