Obituary

Montpelier, VT

Dolena Ellen Dailey Richardson of Worcester, Vt peacefully in her sleep at home quietly took the hand of her Lord on December 3, 2025.

Dolena, known to all as Dolly, was born in Montpelier to Earl F. Dailey and Beryl E. Pratt Dailey on November 22, 1943. Dolly attended Worcester Village School, then Montpelier Seminary for high school. Finishing Montpelier Seminary, Dolly began working for the State of Vermont as the secretary for the Secretary of Civil Defense, during which time she met and married Don G. Richardson. Together they enriched their lives with 2 children, Don A. Richardson and Dot E. Richardson.

Taking a job opportunity more local and closer to home Dolly left working for the State and began working for Maxham's Fur Farm and Supply, during which time Dolly married Harold Spear who also adopted Don and Dot, giving them the Spear name. After her short marriage to Harold, Dolly, while working and raising her children, met and married the love of her life Wayne L. Richardson. She and Wayne made their home on Wayne's family farm off Rt 12 in Worcester. Retiring from Maxham's Dolly assisted Linda Nelson as her secretary for the businesses she owned until Linda herself retired. Following Linda's retirement Dolly began assisting Doug and Cathy Hull in their CPA firm until they also retired. Following yet another retirement Dolly then continued her impressive bookkeeping skills by helping keep books for the several businesses her husband, Wayne, owned. Dolly and Wayne spent their years of retirement in the old farmhouse, taking the occasional trip to Visit their son, Don and his family in North Carolina. She would always fondly say that every day with him was an adventure.

Upon his passing, Dolly remained in the farmhouse until she felt it was time to be closer to family. An apartment was then built off of her daughter, Dot's, house for her to spend the remainder of her days, and so she did.

Dolly is survived by her two children Don, wife Sandra Spear of Asheville, Nc and Dot, husband James (Cricket) Davy of Worcester, Vt. Her Grandchildren, Jessie, husband Richard Lacombe of Worcester, Vt, Azalea Spear, Samuel Spear and Benjamin Spear of Asheville, Nc. Great-Grandchildren Lillian and Jackson Lacombe of Worcester, Vt. Sister, Earlene Forbes of Berlin, Vt. and Nephews, Steven Forbes and Michael Forbes along with their families. Dolly was predeceased by her parents, a brother-in-law Duncan Forbes and her 1st, 2nd and 3rd husbands.
