Obituary

Berlin, VT David George Moon, 79, of Berlin, VT, passed away suddenly with a heart attack by a bacterial infection at the Rowan Court Nursing Home. He was the son of the late George Moon and Mona (Buckle) Moon Bradley of Bellerica, MA. He was born in Bellerica, MA on December 9, 1937. He was graduated from Bellerica's Howe High School in the class of 1955 where he played baseball. He also became a Red Sox and a Patriots fan. Dave joined the U.S. Navy shortly after the Korean conflict and was stationed in Key West, FL for two years. He met Margaret "Peggy" Spaulding, his soul mate, while skiing and they were married on March 18, 1972 in Montpelier, VT. They lived for the next 45 years in Berlin, VT raising their son Erik. Dave was a talented "Jack of all trades"- His first job was repairing boat motors. He then learned to be a mechanic, builder of homes, plumber, and an electrician. Dave also learned to fly a plane. His last job in Vermont before having his disabling stroke in 1976 was with Labor and Industry in the Fire and Safety Division. In 1971, he built a two car garage for he and his wife. Dave loved dancing, jazz music, skiing, boating, swimming, gardening and traveling. In 1969 they met his mother in San Francisco and did a three week tour of the United States. Together they went to Canadian Maritime Provinces, Washington D.C., Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, England, Denmark, Estonia, St. Petersburg, Sweden, Finland, Norway, as well as Arizona and several winter months in Big Pine Key, and Key West, FL. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving family; son, Erik, Emily Nelson and their two children Simon and Adrianna Moon of Montpelier; his sister, Aldyth and her husband Warren Innis of Ipswich, MA and Big Pine Key, FL and their two children, Ralph Innis and his wife, June of Peabody, MA and Robyn Innis of Ipswich, MA; also their elderly Uncle Freddie Moon, 99, of Plymouth, MA; and several cousins. The funeral will be at the First Congregational Church of Berlin on May 27, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., Internment will follow at the Berlin Cemetery. We would like to thank Central VT Home Health, Central VT Medical Center, especially the intensive care unit, and Rowan Court Nursing Home for their wonderful care of Dave during his illness. We are fortunate to have such fine facilities in our area. In lieu of flowers, please give memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
