Barre, VT
On October 11, 2019 Daniel Thomas Carver of Barre, Vermont passed away, the result of a fall down the stairs at his home.
Dan was the son of Dennis and Sherry Carver and grew up in East Montpelier, Vermont.
He graduated from U-32 High School in 1999 where he played soccer, lacrosse, and hockey. Although school was never Dans favorite thing, he took classes at CCV and North Country Community College in New York.
Dan was extremely creative and could do anything with his hands. He learned many of his carpentry skills while working for his cousin in Plymouth, MA. After four years of that, he came back to East Montpelier and worked as an installer for Direct TV. A back injury forced him to work in a less physical occupation and this is when he found his true calling. He was a Mental Health Specialist at The Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital for about 10 years. Dan demonstrated an unparalleled level of compassion and respect for the patients, which was noted and reciprocated by them.
This compassion for others transferred over to all areas of his life. He helped others in any way he could: snow blowing his elderly neighbors driveways, caring for his Moms home and lawn after his Dad passed away, sitting with his Uncle Tim as he got sicker so that his aunt could have some respite, and helping his Uncle Tony get his dock put in the water in the spring.
Dan loved to have a good time and never missed an opportunity. Dan had a smile that matched his personality and it lit up the room when he walked in.
His interests were many and included kayaking, camping, turkey and bird hunting, skating, leather-making, inventing ways to do things more easily, and gardening. He was so proud of the flowers around his yard and would often take his Mom on a walk around the house to see what was currently blooming.
Dans constant companion and true love was his Bernese Mountain dog, Stella. We never saw one without the other. She knew how to be slow and quiet in the woods if they were partridge hunting, sit still in a kayak and even knew how to "go left or go right" if she was running alongside of Dans bicycle. Stella will be a sad dog without her Dan, as we all will be. It just wont be the same.
Danny is survived by his Mother, Sherry Carver, his sisters Kathryn Carver of South Burlington, and Karen Adams and husband Andy and their daughter Emma of East Montpelier, VT. Danny is also survived by 15 Aunts and Uncles and 20 cousins who all loved him dearly, and his beloved niece Emma. He was predeceased by his Father, Dennis Carver.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions in Daniels honor are encouraged to do so to the Central Vermont Humane Society, 1589 VT Route 14, East Montpelier, Vermont.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 18th from 6 8 PM at Guare & Sons Funeral Home on School Street in Montpelier, VT. The funeral will take place on Saturday, October 19th at 2:00 PM at The Old Meeting House on Center Road in East Montpelier, VT.
