Clifford John "Bud" Eardensohn passed away peacefully at home at the age of 78 with his wife by his side. He was born in Englewood, New Jersey, on August 5, 1930 to Albert Joseph and Katharine Ondis Eardensohn. Bud graduated from Bergenfield High School in Bergenfield, New Jersey in 1948. Following two years of enlisted service in the United State Air Force, he attended Mississippi State University and later graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey, with a degree in Business. Bud joined his father in business at Modern Finance Company in Ridgefield Park, NJ. Bud was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed skiing, fly fishing, golfing, and gardening. He was a member of the Mad River National Ski Patrol and, from 1961-62, he was the President of the North Jersey Whiz Skiers ski club at the time their ski lodge was being built at the base of Mad River Glen Ski Area. In 1968, Bud moved his family from New Jersey to Vermont. He began a career in the ski business and was the founder and proprietor of Vermont North Ski Shops for over 30 years. Bud was a devoted father and active in his children's lives, including volunteering as a flag football coach and cheering at high school sporting events. He also instilled in his children a love for skiing, Vermont, and his beloved New York football Giants. Bud was active in the local community, including serving as chairman of the Middlesex School Board in the 1970's and, more recently, running for state representative in Washington County. He followed local and national politics, and was always up for a good debate on political issues of the day. Survivors include his wife, Ann Lowe Eardensohn; children, Kris (Eardensohn) and husband, Pete Stelter of East Lyme, CT; Todd Eardensohn of Washington, DC; and Wes and wife, Suzie Lowe of Waitsfield; five grandchildren, Gretchen and Erik Stelter, and Madeleine, Wesley, and Piper Lowe; brother, A. Eugene and his wife, Liddell Eardensohn of Charlotte; niece Ondis Eardensohn and Gregory Sanford of Marshfield; nephews, Paul and wife, Tory Eardensohn of Warren, Rich Eardensohn of Charlotte, and John and wife, Patty Eardensohn of Poway, CA. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Augustine's Church, Montpelier, on Friday, December 12th at 1:00PM with a time to remember immediately following in the parish hall.
