Clara Knapp Edwards, 81, formerly of Upper Main Street, Montpelier and Pinewood Estates in Morrisville died July 23, 2010 at Clark's Residential Care Home in Hyde Park. Clara was born on October 8, 1928 in Berlin, VT the daughter of Lewis P. and Annie (Gidney) Knapp and graduated from Montpelier High School. On June 5, 1951, she married Harrison P. Edwards in Montpelier. They built a home on Upper Main Street where they raised three daughters and numerous critters over the years. Clara was a devoted wife and mother, well known to the neighborhood children for baking Whoopie Pies. She preserved everything Harrison grew in their large gardens. Clara enjoyed sewing and was a leader of the Pins & Needles 4-H Club. Clara was a long time member of the Old Meeting House Church. Clara loved country music, square dancing, Harlequin romances and playing cards. Harrison died on April 28, 1998 and Clara moved from Worcester to Morrisville to be nearer her daughters. She is survived by three daughters, Penny Edwards of Moretown; Alice Bard of Morrisville; and Ginny Edwards of Loveland, Colo; six grandchildren, Kelly Anderson, Keith Blair, Dale Marshall, Scott Blair, Marc Bard & Kari Bard; one great grandson, Dean Blair. Clara is also survived by a brother, Paul Knapp of Orange, VT and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A grave side service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 31st, at Doty Cemetery, East Montpelier Center. A gathering will follow at the Old Meeting House Church parish house.
